Welcome

October 30, 2011 in announcements

Welcome to the Nomadic University!

We are a group of people in New York who are interested in re-thinking the possibilities of education and what is involved in the process of learning. Our group began as sub-group within the Empowerment and Education Working Group of the General Assembly of Occupy Wall Street.

We normally meet every week, and have several smaller task forces working on developing various parts of the vision and practices of the Nomadic University. If you are interested in re-thinking education, join us. Check out the calendar on the right side for upcoming meetings or events.

NU principles as adopted 11-5-2011

November 5, 2011 in Uncategorized

In accordance with OWS principles, we establish the nomadic university as education is a critical  component of social, economic, and political transformation. It is committed to equal access to education.  NU’s curricula will directly challenge the commodification of knowledge.  Our processes and structures will incorporate and prioritize transparent direct participatory democracy. A truly liberatory approach to education must challenge all forms of privilege–personal, institutional and structural. With the understanding that everyone is a learner, we believe in learning via collaborative processes.
